What benefits do I get from using the Truly App?

Truly has a unique app architecture that ensures all of the following:

  • See customers' caller ID (via Salesforce lookup) on calls/texts, without having to add work contacts to your personal device.

  • Take/Make calls on your mobile device using your work number, without exposing your personal number

  • Ensure all of your **work** conversations are recorded, transcribed and logged to salesforce without having to do any manual data entry.

Does it use my call minutes?

Mobile VOIP has several deficiencies:

  • poor call quality on cellular networks or wifi, especially when in motion.

  • unreliable ringing with inbound calls

  • faster battery drain

As such, Truly was architected to use the underlying cellular connection on your mobile device, which adds to your minutes. This is typically not an issue since most people have unlimited calling plans, but you should check your mobile plan before using Truly.

How Does It Work?

When you make a call through your personal device, the call is first routed through one of Truly's proxy servers. Once here, Truly changes the caller ID to reflect your work number before forwarding the call outbound to your customer.

When you receive an inbound call, that first comes to a Truly proxy server. Once there, the call is 'forked' to ring all of your selected devices (deskphone, mobile, desktop app) until one of the devices picks up.

Can it track or record my personal communication?

No. Due to the safeguards in place with mobile operating systems (especially iOS), the level of access to capture personal information does not exist. The only way to capture communications data is by initiating an outbound call/text from our app or receiving a call/text to your work number.

What permissions does the app ask for and why?

In order to deliver such a powerful experience, the app requires several permissions to operate. This section explains what permissions are required and how they are used.

iOS

  • Push Notifications (required): voicemail, sms, incoming call notifications

  • Contacts access (required): required for showing incoming caller ID of clients using a back-end mechanism on the phone. The app DOES NOT collect or modify any of the contacts on your personal device, nor does it add any work contacts to it outside of the Truly contact. This is purely used for caller ID functionality.

Android

  • Push Notifications (required): voicemail notifications, sms notifications, incoming call notifications

  • Call Log Access (required): this is used solely to delete work calls from your personal phone's call log

If you have any questions or issues, please reach out to the Truly support team at support@truly.co or by clicking your initials in the upper right corner in the desktop app and we'll be happy to assist!
