How to add and assign phone numbers

Assign phone numbers to users, phone menus and more

Adding New Numbers

  • Click on the Phone Numbers tab in the admin console

  • Click the blue + in the upper right

  • The New Phone Number menu will display

  • Type of number allows you to select between a local or toll free number

  • In Area Code gives you the option of selecting the area code for the new number or the prefix of your toll free number. You can then press the refresh icon next to the number shown to roll for a new number in the selected area code

  • Assignment lets you assign the number shown to the user selected in this field

  • Context will override the caller ID displayed for Truly users within your organization when they receive a call from this number

  • Press Add in the bottom right when the information entered is accurate and the changes will apply

Note: Truly supports adding toll-free (1-844, 1-855, 1-866, 1-887 and 1-888) and local US numbers in most area codes. Our number repository is replenished weekly and availability changes daily based on demand. Individual users can only add local numbers at this time.

Assigning Numbers

Most entities within Truly (Users, Phone Menus, Conference Room Phones) can have any quantity of phone numbers assigned to them at a given time. When would this come in handy?

  1. Tracking calls through different phone numbers for reporting purposes

  2. Setting different 'local' numbers in your outbound caller ID

  3. Receiving calls from phone numbers in different countries
