This article will quickly go over how to change your outbound phone number and why recipients may be seeing another number or incorrect contextual caller ID information.

If a recipient is seeing an unexpected phone number, you may be dialing from a conversation associated with a previously used phone number or phone menu number.

You can check by looking at the '(via)' number under the recipient's caller ID when looking at a conversation. This is the number that will be used if you click the call button in that conversation.

Once you change your outbound phone number, any new conversations will then have that selected phone number.

  1. Click on your phone number in the top right corner of the app.

  2. Click the Phone Number tab and select your preferred outbound caller ID from the list.

  3. Click off to save.

  4. Now when you click to call, or when you create a new conversation in the app, the new conversation will be be tied to the newly selected phone number.

If you are looking for more information around why your textual caller ID may be incorrect, please see our Outbound Caller ID FAQ article.
